Car crashes into divider on Fonadhoo Link Road, injuring two

Two people were injured on Thursday after a car went out of control and crashed into a street light on the L. Fonadhoo Link Road, according to police.

Police told Sun that the vehicle was travelling from Laamu Kadhdhoo towards Fonadhoo when the accident occurred. The incident was reported at 2:35 pm.

The car is believed to have lost control and struck the road divider, causing significant damage to the front of the vehicle. Photos circulating from the scene show a red car with its front end crushed.

Police said two occupants sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the hospital. The driver held a valid licence for the vehicle category, they added.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

The accident comes amid a notable rise in traffic incidents in Fonadhoo. Police statistics show that the number of accidents recorded in the first week of Ramadan this year exceeded those reported during the same period last year.
