The Male’ City Council posted an announcement on Sunday seeking a contractor to supply electric buggies to re-start buggy service in suburban Vilimale’.
Vilimale’, a district of Male’ City, is an island where motorized vehicles are banned. The island had a buggy service – which was previously operated by a private contractor. But in 2022, the city council cancelled the contract citing breaches, and in 2023, launched a city-council run electric buggy service.
But the 10 buggies procured at the time have since become damaged and rundown, resulting in disruptions to the service.
On Sunday, the city council invited bids to supply environment friendly electric buggies in order to relaunch a good-quality buggy service in Vilimale’.
The council invited interested contractors to visit their procurement section to clarify information and submit quotations.
Information clarification: 10:30 am on February 26 at the meeting room of the Male’ City Council Hall in Boduthakurufaanu Magu
Submission of quotations: 11:30 am on March 5 at the meeting room of the Male’ City Council Hall in Boduthakurufaanu Magu
The city council is looking to procure at least four 11-seaters, three eight-seaters, and two cargo buggies.
