President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Sunday, has expressed his wish to see the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Maldives and China continue to flourish for the common benefit of both countries and their people.
The President extended his greetings via a post on X, conveying Chinese New Year wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council, as well as to the Government and the friendly people of China.
In his post, President Muizzu underscored that the ambition, grit and success that underlie the Year of the Fire Horse capture the remarkable heights of development China has attained over the years.
“There is much to celebrate and to be thankful for this symbolic year, and I wish the people of China even brighter days ahead,” he added.
On this joyous occasion of the Chinese New Year, I wish to convey heartfelt greetings to HE President Xi Jinping, Premier of the State Council HE Li Qiang, the Government and the friendly people of China.

The President concluded his post by expressing his wishes to see the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Maldives and China continue to flourish for the common benefit of both countries and their people.
China remains one of the Maldives’ closest development partners, with Beijing providing substantial assistance to the island nation over the years. Among the most prominent initiatives supported by China is the Sinamalé Bridge, while a key ongoing project includes the development of the tertiary hospital in Vilimale’.
Notably, President Muizzu has undertaken two official visits to China within the past two years.
