27‑year‑old tuition centre operator remanded for 30 days over child abuse allegation

A man who operates a tuition centre in Male' has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a child.

Police confirmed that a 27‑year‑old Maldivian man was taken into custody in connection with the case. He was arrested on February 11.

He was subsequently presented before the court for a remand hearing, where the judge ordered him to be held in custody for 30 days.

Sun has learned that the suspect is the owner of a large tuition centre in Male’ City.

Child sexual abuse cases are treated with the highest priority by police, and the investigation is ongoing.
