Pres: Heroes in each generation who emulate Sultan Ali's bravery in upholding nation’s honor

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Tuesday, remarked that there will be heroes in each generation who emulate the heroism of Sultan Ali VI and uphold the honor and glory of the Maldives.

The President made the remark via a post on X on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day.

In the post, the President paid tribute to the lasting memory of soldiers who were martyred while defending the nation, as well as those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Marking 482 years since the martyrdom of Sultan Ali VI, the President expressed confidence that every generation would continue to produce heroes who embody Sultan Ali VI’s bravery and uphold the Maldives’ honour and dignity.

He concluded by expressing hope for the Maldives’ continued independence under the abundant grace of Allah.

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed also shared a post on X, honoring the heroic legacy of Sultan Ali VI and extending Martyrs’ Day greetings to the public.

Maldives commemorates Martyrs’ Day on the first day of Sha'ban on the Islamic calendar to honor fallen national heroes, primarily remembering Sultan Ali VI, who laid down his life fighting against the Portuguese.
