Police and MACL sign MoU to strengthen emergency coordination at airports

The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) and the Maldives Police Service have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance coordination during airport emergencies.

The MoU was signed to improve cooperation in crisis management and streamline communication between the two agencies during emergency situations, according to a police statement issued on Monday.

MACL operates Velana International Airport as well as several domestic airports across the country.

The announcement comes exactly two months after a robbery at Velana International Airport, in which a large sum of US dollars was stolen. The theft occurred on the morning of October 27.

When asked about the status of the investigation, police told Sun that no further details were available at this time and that updates would be shared once confirmed.
