68-year-old stranded at sea while en route to Feevah rescued

Maldives Police Service, on Tuesday, has rescued a person stranded at sea after a boat enroute to Sh. Feevah began taking in water.

The Police said they received a report at approximately 11:50am on Tuesday morning after a boat enroute to Feevah from Sh. Funadhoo began sinking after taking in water.

Subsequently, officers attended to the scene and following a search, discovered a man who traveled on the boat stranded at sea near Feevah.

The Police confirmed that the man was travelling alone the vessel: something prohibited in the Maldives that remains concerningly common.

Boats travelling in the area have been warned to exercise caution as some goods from the vessel have been cast adrift.
