Home Minister Ali Ihusaan has urged police officers not to be swayed by promises of promotions or money, warning them against falling into corruption while carrying out their responsibilities.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the 41st Police Initial Training Course, Ihusaan said corruption remains rampant within the police environment.
“People will promise promotion, money will be distributed. But you must not abandon your training, skills, and determination. We will have zero tolerance for corruption in this institution. I advise you not to get into such a sickness,” Ihusaan said.
The minister praised the proud history of the Maldives Police Service, noting that officers work daily in dangerous environments to protect citizens. He said the newly trained officers are prepared for this responsibility.

Ihusaan added that the public expects 100 percent safety and security, with every island and dark corner of the Maldives feeling safe. He urged officers to work towards fulfilling those expectations.
While the minister spoke strongly against corruption, several senior police officers are currently facing allegations of abuse of office and money laundering, with cases under investigation or trial. Those officers deny the allegations.
Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen also addressed the ceremony, stressing the importance of discipline and integrity in uniform. He highlighted that 35 female officers had completed the course, reflecting growing female participation in law enforcement.
