Yazmeedh Mohamed, the representative member of the president on the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), has been elected the Commission’s vice president.
The post was held by High Court judge Mohamed Niyaz until Wednesday, Some media outlets reported that he had resigned from post.
JSC, via a post on X on Thursday, said Yamzeedh has been elected the Commission’s vice president.
Niyaz was elected to JSC on April 27, 2022. Yamzeedh was appointed to the post on February 23rd.
Yazmeedh contested in last year’s parliamentary election on PNC’s ticket for the Villingili constituency seat. The seat was won by independent candidate, Azim Abdul Azeez who later joined the ruling party.
The Commisison is presently headed by PNC’s Maafushi MP Hussain Riza.
