President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has nominated Mohamed Nasih, who last held the post of Civil Service Commission (CSC)’s president as the Commission’s vice president and incumbent vice president of the Commission Mohamed Mujthaz as the Commission’s president.

The nominations were sent to the Parliament on Sunday.

Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla has forwarded the nominations to the Independent Institutions Committee for review.

Mujthaz, who served as the Hanimaadhoo MP during the 17th parliamentary assembly, was appointed a member of CSC on April 20th and later appointed the Commission’s vice president on April 30th.

Parliament approved Nasih’s reappointment to the Commission, who previously served as CSC’s president, at the end of last month. Health Minister Abdulla Nazim’s wife, Dr. Dheeba Moosa and Supreme Court’s former Secretary General Dr. Hussain Faiz were among the members appointed to CSC alongside Nasih.

Notably, a no-confidence motion was initiated against Nasih last November after accusing him of attempting to gain undue personal benefits. While the Independent Institution Committee voted to dismiss him, he was saved by a floor vote.
