ACC holds discussions with China on collaborating to prevent corruption

Maldives’ corruption watchdog, Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has held discussions with China on combating corruption.

ACC, via a post on X, said the commission members paid a courtesy call on the Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua, during which discussions were held on avenues for potential collaboration between ACC and Chinese authorities to strengthen anti-corruption efforts.

Commenting further on the meeting, Ambassador Kong, via a post on X, said he shared China's two keys to tackling corruption-supervision by the people and self-supervision of the government.

He added that both sides agreed international cooperation is essential for anti-corruption efforts and in this trajectory, affirmed commitment to work closely to enhance knowledge sharing and capacity building.

ACC has been holding discussions with various countries on avenues for collaboration in anti-corruption efforts.

The Commission is target criticism from the general Maldivian public and political figures regarding its failure to prevent major corruption scandals that have come to light in the Maldives.
