The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Road Development Corporation (RDC) for the purpose of modernising roads across 11 islands within the nation.
These 11 projects were granted to the RDC by the Ministry, contingent upon their completion within a timeframe of 730 days.
The islands and their corresponding road modernisation costs are listed below.
H.A. Thuraakunu: MVR 65.5 million
H.Dh. Nolhivaranfaru: MVR 101.2 million
H.Dh. Finey: MVR 65.5 million
Sh. Maroshi: MVR 60.2 million
N. Maafaru: MVR 116 million
B. Thulhaadhoo: MVR 70.9 million
B. Kudarikilu: MVR 53.5 million
M. Muli: MVR 85 million
Th. Guraidhoo: MVR 74.4 million
Th. Hirilandhoo: MVR 70.5 million
Th. Kinbidhoo: MVR 79.5 million

Since its inception, RDC has been awarded road projects nationwide. However, the government has faced public criticism for discontinuing, halting, or failing to complete many of these projects initiated across various parts of the country.
