Ahmed Thoriq (Tom), who previously held the post, has again been elected President of the Football Association of Maldives (FAM).

Thoriq was the only one to file his nomination for the FAM's electoral congress held at the Meerumaa Hotel on Saturday. He filed his nomination with the support of all the member clubs.

Since only one candidate contested a referendum was taken. A show of hands vote showed the support of 32 members. With all the clubs unanimous, Thoriq was elected President of FAM for the next four years

Thoriq was also the FAM president in 2016. However, less than four months after taking office, five members of the exco resigned simultaneously and Thoriq lost his majority.

Thoriq's exco this time includes senior vice-chairmen Ali Ibrahim, Mujthaba Jaleel and Maziya CEO Hussain Shafiu (Koky).

The other members of the exco are goalkeeper Imran Mohamed, former national team midfielder Mohamed Umair, TC Sports chairman Ahmed Abbas, BG Sports' Ali Rizwan and Odi Sports' Abdullah Nasih.

The two female members in Thoriq’s exco are Hawwa Nasra Saeed and Hawwa Rasheeda.
