President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Friday, was honored with World Scout Badge.
The President was conferred the badge by President of the Scout Association of Maldives Mohamed Nazeef, during a ceremony held at the President’s Office.
During the ceremony, the President also conferred the President’s Scout Award upon seven recipients and handed over letters of appointment to eight newly appointed members of the Scout Council.
Speaking during the ceremony, the President reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the Scout Association of Maldives, its volunteers, and the wider Scout family.
Drawing from his own experience as a Scout during his school days, the President emphasized the pressing need for a permanent facility for the Scout Association. He voiced concern about the organization’s continual moves between unsuitable buildings, underscoring that this situation is not viable in the long term.
President Muizzu praised the Scout movement for its remarkable service over the past 69 years, acknowledging its steadfast support to the nation—ranging from daily community efforts to significant national emergencies.
In honor of National Scout Day, President Dr. Muizzu posted a message on his official X account, offering greetings to both past and present members of the Scout movement. He acknowledged the vital contributions of Scouts to national service and praised their continued dedication to promoting unity and social responsibility across the Maldives.
