The national postal service Maldives Post Limited has issued a public alert over the emergence of scam messages in the company’s name.

Maldives Post shared a screenshot of the scam message in question via its social media pages on Thursday.

The message has a link, and asks customers to correct their address.

It also warns that a penalty will be charged for failure to update the information within six hours.

Maldives Post said that the service will not SMS customers asking for their address for delivery.

They advised customers against clicking such links in order to protect private and financial information.

Police have said that over MVR 2.5 million has been stolen in scams in last two months alone.
