A Maldivian student pilot sustained serious injuries on Saturday, after being struck by a propeller during training at a Philippines flight school.
Abdul Maniu, a native of HDh. Hanimaadhoo, is training to be a pilot at the Airworks Aviation Academy, located Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.
A fellow student told Sun that Maniu had complained of dizziness and nausea during a flying exercise on Saturday morning. He disembarked the aircraft before the engine was fully turned off and got struck by the propeller.
He sustained injuries to his face, hands and legs in the incident, and is currently undergoing surgery.
Philippines is home to a large population of Maldivian pilot trainees.
