Maldivian band ‘2ofus’ stuns at India’s ‘Battle of Bands’

Maldivian band ‘2ofus’ has showcased its first performance at ‘Battle of Bands International’, a reality show by India’s state-owned public television broadcaster, Doordarshan, where incredible bands from all over the world compete in a music-off.

The performance which kicked off with the instrumental of the popular Dhivehi song, ‘Echeh Kalheh’ and transitioned into a fusion of the famous Hindi song, ‘Babu Samjho Ishaare’ was well received by the judges.

‘Battle of Bands International’ is a competition open for bands that can sing in Hindi language. ‘2ofus’, the Maldivian band which was shortlisted among applicants, comprises of five members: Ahmed Adhuham, Abdulla Shamrooh, Mohamed Nasooh bin Nasruddin, Ahmed Shaheed (Shaheed Legacy) and Ahmed Jasheem.

The first episode also featured performances from Sri Lanka’s ‘Nights’, Russia’s ‘Raga Rebels’, and India’s ‘Soul of Sufi’. The judges selected the performance by ‘Nights’ as the best among them.

‘Battle of the Bands’ was initially targeted towards Indian bands. The international edition of the show was prompted by the phenomenal success of the local edition.

Apart from Maldives, bands from Afghanistan, Mauritius, Tajikistan, Singapore, Russia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Spain and the UK are participating in the show.

While the recording of most episodes of the show has already been completed, the first episode had only just aired last night. Maldivians eagerly await to see additional amazing performances from ‘2ofus’, who are bringing a good name to the nation.
