The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel on Monday arrived in Malta on an official visit.
During this visit, the minister is expected to meet his Maltese counterpart, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Ian Borg.
The two are expected to engage in talks to enhance the bilateral relations between the Maldives and Malta and exchange views on key issues of mutual interest, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Minister Khaleel is also scheduled to meet with key cabinet ministers of Malta to discuss and explore new opportunities for enhanced cooperation between the two countries, with discussions in notable areas of shared interest such as environmental conservation, sustainable development, the transition to renewable energy, and the enhancement of trade and tourism ties.
The minister is accompanied by Dr. Hala Hameed, Secretary, and Hassan Hussain Shihaab, Senior Under Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during this trip.
