A Sri Lankan national alleged of stealing money from a shop’s cash register has been remanded pending trial.
Local authorities had arrested Vijendra Waduge Nirasha Rasali, 24, in the case. He is alleged to have stolen from local shops.
The remand order confirms prosecution had presented sufficient evidence against the suspect. Additionally, CCTV snaps and statements from the alleged suspect further confirmed the individual had taken money from these shops.
While the Lankan individual is alleged of stealing from shops, the amount stolen had not been specified.
The court order cited the individual should be held in remand pending trial conclusion in accordance with Article 49 of the Constitution, Sections 59 and 60 of the Criminal Procedure Act.
