The one-megawatt generator set brought to Addu City to fix the recurring power cuts--
A one-megawatt (MW) generator set has been taken to Addu City to fix the recurring power outage issue at the city.
Frequent power cuts in the city has been a recurring issue for some time now, while many of the city's locals have repeatedly protested about it.
Fenaka Corporation provides the utility service at the southernmost city.
While the city had complained about frequent power cuts since the current administration assumed power, a 1.8 megawatt generator set was earlier commissioned and installed at the city on February 21st.
Despite capacity increment, Addu continued to experience power outages.
Earlier, the city's mayor Ali Nizar claimed the only option for the public was to raise their concerns through protest. Not longer after the mayor made the remarks, Fenaka Corporation's Managing Director Mohamed Najah and Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Arif flew to the city.
The public had gathered near the airport, and continued their protest at the arrival of Fenaka Corporation heads. The public had questioned about the delays in fixing the issue, and inquired when Fenaka would install the next generator.
Meanwhile, both Addu City Council members and lawmakers from the city's constituencies have raised concerns while alleging negligence of Fenaka Corporation.
