Former President Mohamed Nasheed has said that the agreement between the government and Indian company GMR must be reinstated in order to perfect the relations between the Maldives and India.
Nasheed said while talking to reporters as he arrived in Male’ this afternoon after his visit to India, that discussions were held ‘in great detail’ with senior officials of India regarding the issue of the termination of the agreement between the Maldivian government and GMR.
“Discussions were held in great detail. They believe that the GMR contract should be reinstated in order to perfect the relations between the Maldives and India. We also support the same,” he said.
Nasheed expressed hope that the issue of the agreement made by his government with GMR would be reconsidered, and that the agreement would be reinstated.
