HDC launches new campaign for Ramadan

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has announced a new campaign for this year’s Ramadan dubbed ‘Eh gein aneh geah’ (‘From one house to the other’).

The campaign, aims to donate discarded items from households that are still in usable condition to neighboring houses.

HDC highlights Ramadan is a significant time of change for Maldivian households, with renewal and replacement of furniture and home appliances among other items, and recommended gifting such discarded items to those who are in need but cannot afford, if such discarded items are still in usable conditions.

The campaign aims to foster friendliness among the people, and encourage each other to help and donate such usable items.

HDC added that all Hulhumale’ residences can take part in the campaign and donate discarded but usable items to others; including used furniture and electronics.

The program, slated for February 1st will run for two weeks, with HDC promising on helping the households with logistical aspects of moving the items put up for donation. Final date for picking up such items from Hulhumale’ residences is February 16th, HDC announced.

Items not handed over as donation after the set charity period expires, would be gifted to people based on their needs.

People who are interested in donating their discarded furniture or electronic items may contact HDC’s hotline at 7412111. The opening hours of HDC’s call center for the campaign are:

  • Sunday – Thursday: 09:00hrs to 13:00hrs
  • Friday: 15:00hrs to 18:00hrs
  • Saturday: 10:00hrs to 14:00hrs

Issuance of donated items:

  • Sunday – Thursday: 15:00hrs to 18:00hrs
  • Friday: 15:00hrs to 18:00hrs
  • Saturday: 10:00hrs to 18:00hrs
