Estonian Health Minister Riina Sikkut has paid a courtesy call on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The President is on an official visit to Estonia at the invitation of his Estonian counterpart, Dr. Alar Karis.

The meeting between the President and the Health Minister provided valuable insights into Estonia's transformation of its healthcare sector through digitalization. The Estonian Health Minister emphasized the major benefits it has delivered to the public, including greater efficiency, accessibility, and improved quality of care, while also discussing the challenges encountered along the way and the solutions put in place to overcome them.

In response, President Muizzu strong interest in drawing lessons from Estonia’s expertise and applying its successful strategies to improve the Maldivian healthcare system. He underscored the need to ensure consistent, high-quality healthcare across all islands, including remote areas, and explored how digital solutions could help bridge gaps in service delivery.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthening Maldives-Estonia relations in the healthcare sector.
