President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Monday, met with his Estonian counterpart, Dr. Alar Karis.
The meeting was held as part of President Muizzu’s ongoing official visit to Estonia, marking the first time a head of state from the Maldives has visited the nation.
During the meeting, President Karis expressed his gratitude to President Muizzu for accepting his invitation to visit Estonia. In response, President Muizzu thanked President Karis and the people of Estonia for their warm hospitality and gracious welcome.
The discussions between the two leaders centered on strengthening bilateral ties and exploring collaboration opportunities in areas such as tourism, education, and climate change.
President Muizzu particularly expressed interest in knowledge exchange in the field of cybersecurity and digital innovation, citing Estonia’s expertise in renewable energy, smart grids, and sustainable technologies as valuable models for the Maldives, and discussed avenues for cooperation to enhance environmental resilience and digital development in the Maldives.
Both presidents shared their views on international security and reaffirmed their commitment to collaborate on shared priorities in the multilateral arena.
They concluded the meeting by expressing confidence in strengthening the partnership between the Maldives and Estonia.
