Male’ City Council has commenced efforts to redevelop Galolhu City Park in Galolhu district of Male’ City which has been left for ruins for the past 15 years.

Notably, Galolhu City Park was closed for redevelopment after installing tin sheets around the premises 15 years ago. Despite this, no work has been done to date.

As per Male’ City Council this resulted in the premises becoming a drug den for addicts. As such, the Council underscored receiving continuous complaints from individuals residing in the area regarding the challenges they subsequently face.

Thus, the Council, commenced the redevelopment of the Galolhu City Park on December 6th.

On December 8th, the Council removed the tin sheets and cleaned and fixed up the premises to an extent.

The Council said the redevelopment of the park will be centered on the needs of the public as space permits. In this regard, they detailed that the Park, at the completion of the redevelopment, will have a three-on-three basketball court, an outdoor badminton court, a running track, a play area for children, an outdoor gym, an area to host events and an area where senior citizens can rest and socialize.

It was stressed that the redevelopment of the park falls in line with numerous efforts spearheaded by Mayor Adam Azim since assuming office to ensure Male’ City is a safe, comfortable and peaceful place for its residents where residents help and care for each other.
