STO vessel runs aground on Thaa Atoll reef

A vessel carrying 200 tons of aggregate to Thaa Atoll, operated by State Trading Organisation (STO), has run aground on a reef in Thaa Atoll.

Sun Online understands that the vessel was transporting aggregate from Addu to Male’ when got stranded on a reef near Kan’dudhoo.

It has been confirmed that the 100-foot long ship called ‘Thoori’ ran aground yesterday. The reason for the accident is however yet unclear.

Director of STO Ibrahim Shareef said today that a tug boat had been sent to the location to refloat the vessel.
