Ali Sameer has tendered his resignation from the post of Deputy Prosecutor General after two years of service.

Sameer was appointed as the Deputy PG in May 2022.

Sameer confirmed to Sun that he tendered his resignation on Monday. But he said he did not have “any specific reason” for his decision.

Deputy PGs are appointed by the Prosecutor General. Sameer’s resignation leaves Mahmood Saleem alone in the Deputy PG rank.

Sameer has a Bachelor’s in Sharia and Law from the Al-Azhar University of Egypt, and Masters in Comparative Law from the International Islamic University of Malaysia.

He has over 15 years of experience as a judge.

Sameer worked as a judge at the High Court from 2011-2022, prior to which he worked as a judge, and later chief judge at the Civil Court.
