Man sentenced to 12 years in prison for sexually abusing a minor

Criminal Court has sentenced a man who was found guilty of sexually abusing a minor to 12 years in prison.

The convict is Mohamed Dawood, Image, R. Maakurathu.

He was charged with two offenses; engaging in a sexual act with a minor and possession of pornography.

As per the judgment delivered by the Criminal Court last Tuesday, he was acquitted of possession of pornographic photos and videos on his phone.

However, he was found guilty of engaging in a sexual act with a minor and in this trajectory, was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

No further details regarding the case have been disclosed by the Criminal Court as it involves the interests of a minor.
