Robberies three days in a row, police recovers stolen items

Maldives Police Service on Sunday said cases of robberies were reported three days in a row, and added they have recovered the stolen items in these incidents.

The cases include a robberies in Maldives Olympic Committee office and Riollo's office as well as a case of stolen Rihaakuru (Tuna thick-sauce) worth MVR 50,000.

Police said it received report of robbery from the second floor of the building that houses the Olympic Committee's office last Wednesday. 

The stolen items from the building include a mobile phone, medal, token, and other items, all of which have been recovered.

Police received report of robbery from Riollo's office at Maafannu Kaneeru Villa last Thursday, and added the authority was successful in recovering the stolen items, which included two laptops, mobile phones and other items.

The law enforcement authority added robbery of Rihaakuru tins from a boat at Male' City north harbor was reported last Friday.

The tins were discovered hidden at a residence after it was sold, police said but added it had not made any arrests in the case.

According to statistics, a total of 2,356 robbery cases have been reported to the police so far this year.
