MATATO to host conference to empower women in tourism

The Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO), in collaboration with Jen Maldives Male' by Shangri-La, announced the Maldives Travel Conference 2024—Women's Edition.

The conference, with a primary focus on empowering women and expanding their role in the Maldives tourism industry, is scheduled for August 19, 2024.

The event has also acquired endorsement from the Ministry of Tourism.

MATATO met with State Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Niyaz and Deputy Minister Aishath Shimany to discuss on new efforts to boost women's involvement and their leadership in the industry.

Besides the ministry's endorsement, the event has been endorsed by several women empowerment associations, including Women in Management (WIM), Women on Boards (WOB), and Women Entrepreneurs Association of the Maldives (WEAM).

The Maldives Travel Conference 2024—Women's Edition is expected to bring prominent tourism industry leaders, decision-makers, exceptional women entrepreneurs and leaders in the tourism industry, and other stakeholders under one roof for healthy discussions related to the tourism sector's advancements, challenges, and new policies.
