Housing Ministry requests Police to reclaim Usfasgandu

Housing Ministry has written to the Police requesting to reclaim Usfasgandu area and to hand it over back to the Ministry. The area is currently being used by MDP to hold political activities. The period allowed by the Civil Court ruling, which stated that Male' City Council must hand the area over to Housing Ministry, has expired yesterday.

Police Media Official Hassan Haneef confirmed today that they received a letter from the Housing Ministry and said that they are currently looking into details of the matter.

“We have received a letter from the Housing Ministry. We are currently looking into the necessary details of the matter,” Haneef said.

Civil Court had issued a ruling on the 20th of this month ordering that within 7 days, the area be handed over to the Housing Ministry. Male’ City Council has appealed the case in High Court.
