Police question ‘Deadpool’ at airport

A man dressed as Marvel superhero Deadpool was stopped and questioned by the police at the Velana International Airport (VIA) on Wednesday.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

A police spokesperson confirmed questioning a man dressed as Deadpool at the airport.

The spokesperson identified the man as a Maldivian citizen, who went to the airport to receive a traveler.

The police said they merely questioned the man, and did not make an arrest.

However, the spokesperson did not specify why the man was questioned.

Deadpool, is a popular character which was initially depicted in Marvel Comics as a supervillain and later as an antihero. He is the alter ego of Wade Wilson, a disfigured Canadian mercenary with superhuman regenerative healing abilities. He is known for his tendency to joke incessantly.

The incident comes as Deadpool & Wolverine nears the USD 900 million global box office mark as it enters its third week of worldwide play.
