President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reassigned the Labour Relations Authority (LRA) to the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology.
The reassignment was made on Tuesday under the discretion vested to the President by Section 116 of the Maldivian constitution.
As per the President’s Office, the decision was made by the President at the recommendation of his cabinet in order to resolve the issues surrounding undocumented expatriate workers in the Maldives.
Prior to this, LRA was under the purview of the Ministry of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development.
Home Minister Ali Ihusan, following the reassignment, visited LRA, and discussed the implementation of their new responsibilities.
