MNSW trade platform phase 1 to launch in August

Tradenet Maldives has announced that the planned electronic platform for international trade under the Maldives National Single Window (MNSW) project, will be launched on August 2024.

The Maldives National Single Window is a centralized digital platform designed to streamline international trade, which is achieved by enabling trade and transport parties to submit standard information and documents through a single entry point.

This allows businesses and individuals to electronically submit all import, export, and transit related documents which thereby, elmininates the need to interact with multiple entities and reducing parperwork.

Tradenet Maldives promises the electronic platform will facilitate;

• Transparent Trade Facilitation System
• Removing Current Inefficiencies
• Lower Procedure Costs
• Save Resources and Time

The platform is developed for government agencies, importers and exporters, customs brokers, shipping agents and freight forwarders. Tradenet Maldives further said the platform will be ideal for other trade stakeholders involved in international trade and transport as well.

The MNSW project, according to Tradenet Maldives, aims to facilitate efficient communication and streamline processes among the stakeholder parties.

According to Tradenet Maldives, the first phase of the project is expected to launch in August with the following agencies onboarded;

• Tradenet Maldives Corporation Limited
• Ministry of Defense
• Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation
• Ministry of Economic Development and Trade
• Ministry of Construction and Infrastructure
• Maldives Customs Service
• Maldives Ports Limited (MPL)
• Ministry of Finance
• Ministry of Tourism

Phase 2 of the project, planned for December this year, will have the following agencies onboarded according to Tradenet;

• Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy
• Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources
• Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare
• Maldives Food and Drug Authority
• National Center for Information Technology (NCIT)
• Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA)
• Maldives Aiports Company Limited (MACL)

Meanwhile, the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) of the MNSW project began Sunday, July 15th and will last until August 15th. The UAT allows participating stakeholders and users to test the software, identify issues, and provide feedback before the official launch.

Besides Tradenet Maldives, key government ministries, Maldives Customs Service and Maldives Ports Limited will be participating in the testing phase.

Besides the National Single Window, Tradenet Maldives als operates oneGov, a comprehensive digital platform integrating key government/public services, enhancing users to use a single platform to view and access services of multiple public agencies.

Tradenet Maldives was founded in 2019 by a presidential decree with the aim of driving digital transformation within the Maldives.
