Police arrest suspect for stealing cables near Majeedhiya School

Maldives Police Service has arrested an individual suspected of stealing cables after cutting them from a STELCO sub-station near Majeedhiya School last Tuesday.

Police confirmed arresting a 32-year-old male in suspicion of the case, and said they were investigating the matter.

The authority was reported of the robbery on the morning of last Tuesday.

Previously, police was notified of a similar cable robbery case near Male' City food courts as well.

There have been a number of incidents involving robberies in mosques as well.

Earlier, the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology said 46 repeat offenders were apprehended for close to 4,000 times but never incarcerated.

The ministry said they were now trying to put these offenders in custody.
