Under the agreement, Addu City Council will be leasing the land to BCC required to develop the factory.

The City's Deputy Mayor Mohamed Shuau and BCC Deputy Managing Director Samih Adam signed on behalf of the city council and BCC, respectively.

The garment factory establishment is aligned with the broader vision of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu in upscaling tailoring and associated activities to an industrial level nationwide. The initiative aims to provide a facility for local small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) and individuals, that is conducive for their business activities.

The initiative led by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, aims to provide economical benefit for the city and across the Maldives as well.

With the garment factory project, BCC envisions similar small-scale activities will be upscaled nationwide.
