First Lady Sajidha’s stepfather, Ali Ibrahim, dies aged 78

Ali Ibrahim, the stepfather of Maldivian First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, has died at the age of 78.

Ali, affectionately called Dhon Alibe, died on early Sunday morning.

The funeral for the Dh. Meedhoo native was held at the Islamic Center in Male’ City after Dhuhr prayer.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, who is currently in New Delhi to attend Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony later on Sunday, asked for people to attend the funeral prayer.

He made the appeal in a post on X.

Meanwhile, the main ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) has also issued a statement conveying condolences to the first lady and her family.
