China's Xizang Autonomous Region has gifted 1,500 tons of mineral water to the Maldives government on Thursday.
At a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the donation was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer, while the donation was handed over by Wang Lixin, the Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives.
The ministry added that the donated water will be distributed to island communities, "for use during times of drinking shortage".
Speaking at the ceremony, Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer highlighted the warm relations between the Maldives and China, and mentioned that China continues to remain "as a good friend to the Maldives", especially during challenging times and crisis.
The minister also expressed his gratitude to the people of Xijang Autonomous Region for the kind gesture and to the governmand and people of China for the continued support and goodwill.
The drinking water donated by China have been produced using glacial water, rich with minerals.
