Govt to partner with Saudi for research on Islamic fields

Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed on Tuesday said the ministry has decided to partner up with Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Islamic Affairs to conduct research on various Islamic fields.

Dr. Shaheem revealed the plans at the forum held by the Maldives Islamic Ministry in association with Saudi's Islamic Ministry. The minister said the Islamic academic forum aimed at disseminating information on Islamic faith and jurisprudence.

Areas of discussion and information dissemination at the forum included fields related to Islamic faith and Tawhid.

He also said the forum received unexpected support, and saw participation of several students in various Islamic fields as well.

The forum was facilitated under an agreement between the Maldives and Saudi governments.

"We expect to conduct similar forums in the future as well, and conduct research on various Islamic fields God willing," Dr. Shaheem said.

Dr. Shaheem added the forum is part of the Islamic academic forums held globally.
