The Parliament, on Monday, has approved Fathimath Habeeba for Civil Service Commission (CSC)’s membership out of the two nominations greenlighted by the Independent Institutions Committee.

A floor vote was held for the two nominations greenlighted by the Independent Institutions Committee for the single-vacant membership seat in CSC; Fathimath Habeeb and Abdul Haseeb Ismail.

37 lawmakers participated in the vote on granting approval to Haseeb; 18 voted in favor while 19 voted against.

38 lawmakers participated in the vote on granting approval to Habeeba. She received approval with the unanimous consensus of all 38 lawmakers.

The single vacancy in CSC is attributed to the expiration of former member Fathimath Amira’s term back in December.

The five-member CSC currently consists of four members which include its President Ibrahim Nasih, Vice President Ibrahim Rasheed, and members Mohamed Farushath, and Fathimath Shareef.
