Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef says that Scouts lend a crucial helping hand in times of national crises.
He made the remark on Saturday morning, in a meeting with the Maldivian contingent attending Sri Lanka’s 10th National Scout Jamboree.
At the meeting, Hussain urged the participants to bring honor to the Maldives.
He also urged the Scouts to show exemplary behavior, friendship and solidarity, and make good use of the opportunity.
“You must perform your prayers, manage your time well, and respect your elders,” he said.
He also encouraged the participants to foster friendships with Scouts from other countries attending the Jamboree.
Hussain said that Maldivian Scouts were brave and hardworking, and that the government acknowledges and appreciates the achievements they make in the international arena.
The jamboree is set to take place from February 20-26, in the coastal city of Trincomalee, in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka.
