Two people arrested for the possession of counterfeit money worth US$ 9 million

Two arrests have been made under the accusations of the possession of more than US$ 9 million of fake money.

Superintendent of Police Mohamed Riyaz said tonight that the two people were arrested following a special operation conducted by the Police which commenced this evening.

He also said that the people arrested are of the ages 29 and 34. The first arrest was made while the person was on his way to the bank to deposit the counterfeit dollars. The second was through the search of the person’s home following a court order.

Riyaz said that further information regarding this matter cannot be revealed at the moment, and that the media will be provided with more details tomorrow.
