The Elections Commission has said today that no member of the Elections Commission has acted in conflict with the Constitution or regulations of the country.

In a Press Release by the Elections Commission today, they said that no employee of the Elections Commission has ever been threatened to act in conflict with the law in the past, and the Commission has never released such information.

The Press Release also said that they are dismayed by the lies told at the Parliament by Eydhafushi MP Ahmed Saleem, indicating that the former Vice President of the Commission Ahmed Shahid used his authority against the law to threaten employees and obtain passwords to change the registry of voters.

The document also said that Shahid would not have had to threaten any employees to obtain the password, as he would have one himself as a member of the Commission. Their policy is to block the password when an employee leaves the Commission.

It also said that the purpose of this Press Release is to inform Maldivians of the truth, at a time when Saleem is repeatedly making incorrect statements about the Commission.
