Swords have been discovered in the stairwell of the house the independent MP for Guraidhoo constituency Ibrahim Riza. The objects have been now handed over to the police.
Riza has confirmed this incident to Sun.
Police media official Sub Inspector Hassan Haneef said that they had received a report that swords were found in a house named G. Crabtree and that at the time of attending to the scene, the police were unaware that it was the house of a member of parliament. They also said that they were unaware of this fact even until today.
Haneef said that two swords of length 4 feet and a knife were discovered from the house. The police have now taken these objects under their custody and the matter is being investigated.
MP Riza is also the lawyer for Judge Abdulla Mohamed (Abdulla Ghazee). The recent brutal murder of the Ungoofaaru MP Afrasheem Ali was carried out in the stairwell of his house H. Funvilu.
The issue of the discovery of swords in Riza’s stairwell was also brought to the attention of the Parliament today. The issue was raised as a point-of-order by the Thoddoo MP stating that the issue should have been brought to the attention of the Parliament. The Speaker however did not acknowledge his point-of-order.
