EC receives 22,882 online voter re-registration applications

Elections Commission (EC) states it has received 22,882 online voter re-registration applications for the upcoming presidential election.

Online re-registration, which opened on July 16, closed on Wednesday.

EC states that it accepted 18,088 applications, and rejected the remaining 4,794 applications.

EC’s vice chairman Ilyas Habeeb previously told Sun that most applications are rejected due to expired national ID cards.

Voters can continue to submit physical re-registration applications until Saturday.

Re-registration forms can be submitted to the election center – located at Dharubaaruge, and to local councils in the atolls.
