Male’ has been flooded after about one hour of heavy rain.
The rain started around 7:45am this morning and stopped close to 9am. It has made it difficult to use some roads, especially the main roads.
Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Media Officer said that even though they had not started work on draining the water, they are ready and on standby and that they will drain the water when necessary.
“We are ready. If it becomes necessary, we will drain the water,” said that Media Officer.
Department of Meteorology said that the heavy rain is seasonal and that central and northern Maldives will experience heavy rain. The seas are also expected to be rough.
Heavy rain causes Male’ to flood very easily to an extent that it becomes difficulty to use the roads after a brief bout of rain.
