Thoddoo residents requests to expedite development of volley court at island

AA. Thoddoo residents have appealed to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to expedite the project to construct a volleyball court on the island. 

President Solih and First Lady Fazna traveled to Thoddoo on Wednesday for Eid al-Adha celebrations during which they attended a traditional lunch hosted by the women’s community of the island on the occasion of Eid.

The president met with women after the lunch where the women discussed the challenges faced by female volleyball players on the island due to the absence of a suitable court. In this trajectory, they requested that the project to construct a volleyball court on the island be expedited.

President Solih assured the administration will look into the matter.

During the first couple’s visit to Thoddoo on Wednesday, they also visited the Thoddoo Local Authority Company and met with the management and staff to learn about the company's operations.

The AA. Thoddoo L.A.C. Limited is the first utility company registered by a local council to generate economic opportunities and take on risks in order to develop sustainable solutions that meet the needs of the community.
