Man who attacked residents in Male’ home remanded for 30 days

The man who was arrested after surrendering to the police as they sought public assistance to locate him for forcing himself into an apartment in Male’, and threatening and attacking the apartment’s residents with weapons, has been remanded in police custody for 30 days by the Criminal Court. 

Police made an announcement on Tuesday seeking public assistance to locate Ibrahim Sameen, 34, Dhethandimaage, R. Maduvvari, for a case under investigation by the Serious and Organized Crime Department.

He was arrested on Wednesday after he appeared before the police himself.

According to police, Sameen, along with a group of others, had forced their way into an apartment in Male’ City and threatened the residents of the apartment with a sharp-edged weapon, and attacked them with “dangerous weapons”.

They also destroyed private property.

The incident in question took place on May 2.
