Urbanco opens applications for 100 apprenticeship slots

Urbanco has opened applications for its apprenticeship program.

As per the company, the program is designed to offer participants the opportunity to develop new skill sets and gain work experience in their chosen disciplines.

While 100 slots have been opened in six categories under the apprenticeship program – 82 slots are allocated for the general public while 18 slots are allocated for Urbanco employees.

Categories under the apprenticeship program:

  • Fisheries and agriculture
  • Social sector
  • ICT
  • Transport sector
  • Tourism sector
  • Construction sector

Urbanco states that various technical skills in these six categories will be taught under the apprenticeship program. They include 12 various technical skills such as gardening, computer hardware, heavy vehicle operation, wielding and construction site supervision where local employees are lacking.

The six-month apprenticeship program will also allow participants to gain work experience. Participants will receive a special allowance of MVR 6,000 each.

The deadline for applications is May 14th. The apprenticeship program will commence in June and conclude in November.

Upon completion of the apprenticeship program – all participants will be awarded certificates while selected individuals will get the opportunity to work at Urbanco.
