Two people have been arrested for taking a man to a guest house, threatening him and robbing $1400 and MVR100,000 from him.
Police said that the two people arrested for this crime are aged 21, and that they were arrested on 13 December following a court order.
Police said that the incident took place on the night of 13 December, when the two men contacted the victim and took him to a guest house, where he was tied to a chair and threatened. The two men took his cash card and pin number and took MVR100,000 from his account, which they spent on the same night in various shops.
Police said that valuable electronic items bought by the two men using the money have been found, and that the items were found at the home of one of the men within about seven hours of the crime being reported.
The case is under investigation by the Serious and Organised Crime Department.
